If you are a gardener, you’ll love our seed collective! We ask that you donate a minimum of $20 per season ($40/year) which not only helps us support our many programs, but gets you access to a wide selection of vegetable, herb and flower seeds. In addition to great open pollinated and heirloom seeds adapted to ur region, you get the benefit of connecting with other gardeners to share seeds, plants, stories and other resources. Read more!
The Grow Gainesville gardening community provides a wonderful connection for local gardeners to share information and resources primarily via it’s Facebook group, and regularly scheduled free community workshops every third Monday of the month. This is a great way to connect with other gardeners and learn about a wide variety of backyard homesteading topics.
Forage helps support school gardening efforts underway in our county, and is working to to increase our impact to reach more schools. By offering a fun, dynamic environment to observe, discover, experiment, nurture and learn, school gardens are living laboratories where lessons are drawn from real life experiences. Only with a school garden, are salad parties something kids anticipate!
We offer educational workshops and classes throughout the year focused on gardening techniques, seed saving, pollinator conservation and food preservation.
We work to build relationships amongst farmers and buyers in order to promote a strong and resilient community food system. In partnership with other community organizations, we host the farm to restaurant program, Buy Local North Central Florida, and work on a variety of other initiatives to develop and enhance infrastructure and demand for local food.
We accept interns and volunteers throughout the year in the following areas: youth garden and food education, seed library development, farming, and outreach and event coordination. Specific internship and employment opportunities will be posted on our website.
